They were better before the Zag brand was replaced with Stanley
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’ve got an older one of these with the Zag brand name on it, and I would give that one 5 stars. The new ones with the Stanley name are not quite the same. The lid has been redesigned eliminating some of the cross braces. The lid now has more flex in it allowing small items to slip out and spill into other bins. It’s mostly a problem with flat items, so if you don’t have flat items, don’t hesitate to purchase.

    Great organizer
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I work in the telecom industry and I have used this organizer everyday for the last 2 years. It has held up extremely well in all conditions. It is all plastic but it is very well constructed. The bins can be removed if you don’t need the whole case and reorganized to suit your needs . I don’t have time to coddle my tools and this organizer has taken everything I threw at it. The only reason I had to purchase a new one is because I left to many of the bins in customers houses and it was starting to get pretty empty.(just make sure both hinges are snapped shut before you grab it or bad things will happen.)

Finally a place to put all the loose hardware left over…
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I finally have a place to put all the loose items (screws, nuts, anchors, hooks, etc) that were cluttering my toolbox. I like the fact that you can take the individual cups out instead of taking the whole case to where you need it.

Oh.. and there’s an easy fix for the sticky residue left over from the label. Take the sticky side of the peeled label (or use packing tape or any clear tape) and dab repeatedly on the residue. It will take some time but all of the sticky stuff will eventually come off the lid and onto the label (or tape). Took me less then 5mins to clean it up on mine.

    Perfect for LEGO parts
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I build custom LEGO pieces and after discovering 014725R oragnizer it has made things much easier for me. I bought over a dozen and I love the fact that they stack perfectly on top of each other. Although there is a decent variety of cup sizes that come with the organizer, I wish there was a way to buy more of the bigger size. The cups all fit snug next to each other regardless of size. When you’re carrying the organizer by the handle the cups stay secure with the internal knobs (great idea). The cups are removable for convenience if you need to take them out individually. I’ve bought other types of organizers that do not have this option.

    - Built well. Very Sturdy.

    - Loved the yellow color they choose for thd cups. Makes looking to things easier.

    - Great for organizing small parts for hobbyists like LEGO, beads, rocks and of course screws and nails.

The best organizer out there. Very sturdy – good value organizer for Legos
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Very sturdy – good value – use them to organize my son’s Legos. Better than any of the flimsy, and not much cheaper organizers available. Hard to find anywhere else, except Amazon…

    Excellent
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
    Love it, but:

    - I bought last month for 15, now it’s 20. Why the sudden increase?

    - Comes with a sticker in the front of it that leaves glue behind when removed. Nothing ‘goo gone’ can’t fix though.

    Perfect for Beading
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This size is great for bead organization. I can take the individual boxes out to select by color or shape or whatever. The larger 8 compartment one is good for tools and spools of wire. We have a friend who does hairstyling and she uses this to bring all the tools of her trade out to do wedding parties, etc. They stack real nice – I have 5 of them. I’m trying to figure out a way to put them in a rolling rack.

  8. mboard182 says:

good quality, awkward combination of bin sizes
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This is a great quality bin:

    -somewhat shatter-resistant plastic

-real hinges and latches (stronger/more durable the ‘live hinge’)

-the removable bins (the main feature)

    Comments / negatives:

I have been using “little bins” (google for that, global industrial, akro-mills, and others make them) inside drawers. I wanted something smaller, and with its own carrying case.

These do fit that criteria, HOWEVER, it is frustrating the product isn’t available with more configurations of bins. The 25-compartment version comes with only 12 of the smallest bin (covering ~1/4 of the tray’s area).

At least for me, I have the biggest need for the smallest bins (1.5″ x 2″). After all, I have other solutions that work OK for slightly larger items, its the tiny stuff that is impossible to dig out of a standard organizer tray.

Also, the lid IS rigid, but the inside is mostly flat. Some containers do a better job with very small parts. Lips on the interior of the lid would help a lot, but I can see that isn’t an option here since the bins are reconfigurable inside. This is only effective down to about a #10 flat washer.

    Minor problems:

-the label doesn’t peel off cleanly, lots of adhesive left. I assume i can get it off with alcohol, haven’t tried yet.

Pricey… But worth it, if you need heavy duty..
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
As the title of my review indicates, these ARE pricey. You can find many storage organizers that are much less expensive. However, I doubt you’ll find many that are made more solidly or will last as long, or work as well! If you are looking for a heavy-duty organizer that will last, this is the one.

I have used several types of lighter-weight organizers that just didn’t last. I have three of these and load them with screws and bolts and other small metal and plastic pieces. These travel in my van every day. This is not an easy environment. Heat, cold, and vibration are all a factor.

These organizers stand up to the test. They close securely- PROVIDING YOU ARE CERTAIN YOU HAVE LOCKED THE TABS. Don’t just close the lid and pick it up. Make SURE you have “heard the click” when you snap the clips shut. Once the lid is secure, each heavy-duty removable container stays securely in place. I especially like the feature of the removable compartments. Most of the lighter duty organizers only have plastic dividers that slide in and out of light weight clips. They just don’t have the strength to withstand daily use and eventually, the dividers break. What’s the use to have a divider that doesn’t keep parts where you put them?

Another nice feature is that you can individually remove one of the compartments and close the lid and set the rest of the parts aside. This is especially useful when you are needing multiples of one particular item and don’t want to dig them out of a non-removable compartment and set them loose someplace just waiting to get scattered around.

The only reason I didn’t give this a rating of five stars is how easy it is to THINK the lid is locked, and that the labels are very difficult to remove. The top of my organizer STILL has adhesive residue and bits of the label stuck to it. I don’t know what to use to dissolve the adhesive that will not damage the plastic top. Yeah, I know- a pretty small gripe.

If they had a way to rate it 4.5 stars, I would have given that rating.

  10. Reality Check says:

    Solid Product
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Solidly built, and does the job of organizing. However, the stick-on product label in front is too big, and after a lot of work trying to wash it off with special chemicals, there is still residue that partially obscures the box contents. Stanley essentially ships a good product, but inherently damaged.

    An excellent storage container
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I had been looking for this particular organizer for some time as I owned a set and wanted to buy more. It is an excellent design and perfect for a wide variety of uses. The individual containers inside make it easy to just remove a single container and spill the contents out to find what is inside. This is great if you are mixing sizes of screws or other mixed items. When done it is a simple matter to put them back. The lid has ridges that help to keep the parts from “wandering” into another container cup. With the carrying handle the organizer comes with you easily and it can be either stacked or stored upright like a book. Easy to see what is inside the box without opening it. I am very happy to have found it and will certainly buy more when the need arises.

  12. Tackett Austin says:

Great product, but not for heavy items.
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
These are great, as long as you are realistic in what they can hold. I have a different system (metal drawers) for holding hardware (nuts and bolts) because a full drawer can easily weigh 50 pounds. I wouldn’t put that in a plastic box.

The box is light, and the bins inside the box stay in place. I use it to keep electronic parts/projects organized and dust free. I can remove an inner bin to work on the other side of the shop, and just as easily take the entire thing home if I need to work on something there.

It’s plastic, so it’ll get scratched and broken at some time. However, the quality seems to be pretty good. I’m sure I’ll buy more at some point.

I have both the 25 compartment one and the deeper one with 14 or so compartments. I am very pleased with he utility and usefulness of these. I will buy more and feel smart every time I open them. It feels good to make good purchases.

    Awesome!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have used these storage containers for years. Stack well. Organize nicely. Individual containers can hold a good amount of stuff and can be removed to take separately into the job or workspace. Also, very durable! They have fallen out of the truck bed and not broken. Hard plastic outer shell and reliable latching fasteners.

    Better than I expected
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My husband was very pleased with the removable bins that can be organized in various configurations. It is large enough to hold plenty of parts and the quality latches work well. The complaint about the large sticker that leaves adhesive on the clear plastic lid was solved by removing the sticker and applying some olive oil on the adhesive and rubbing with a paper towel. With the free super saver shipping it’s a great deal and we just bought 6 more for my husbands handyman business.

  16. Handyman says:

    The BEST organizer
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This organizer is the absolute best! It is great for small screws, washers, nuts, etc. The best part is that the little organizers are actually little boxes that lift right out of the carrier. This way you can easily access what is inside without trying to cram your fingers and fumbling with the ones that just have plastic dividers.

  17. C. Gessner says:

    Simple, Inexpensive, and Good
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is not the deep version, but the quantity and size of the boxes is adequate.

Pros are price, sizes, the locking boxes, the movable boxes, the clear top, the carry handle, and the snap lid that is made with very good tolerances. I bought multiple of these and am likely to buy many more. They are significantly cheaper than buying a large cabinet of welded steel.

Instead of buying expensive parts cabinets, I suggest for small parts that are not frequently used, use a wire shelving system and a whole lot of these. If you do the comparison, you could buy 25 of these or the larger version and a some Inter-Metro type wire rack and have twice the storage of a parts cabinet of storage shelving system and have money left over.

  18. L. B. Glass says:

They discontinued their better model; this one is inferior
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This product is not very useful, because the compartments are of fixed size and the sizes cannot be adjusted. Have a tool or part that’s too big for their largest bin? You can’t leave bins out to deal with this, because the others will shift around. So, you’re out of luck.

We really liked Stanley’s model 014006R, which was rated #1 by just about everyone (including the “DIY Guy”) and had 26 compartments with movable partitions. But they discontinued it, and all their so-called “customer care” department did, when we asked how to get a few more, was send us boilerplate e-mails in poor English, probably from a sweatshop overseas. For a short while we were able to find a few more of them at Target, and we stocked up, but they’re now gone for good.

So, Stanley has lost our business. In the future, we will be using the red boxes with movable partitions from Plano Molding, which also have more secure latches on the lid and more reasonable pricing.

    Stay Organized!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Strange as it seems, this was a major upgrade from a cheaper, smaller organizer that I used to have that I replaced because the lid became warped. This organizer is vastly superior with its comfortable carrying handle/grip, removable trays that can be moved around anywhere inside, sturdy lid, and tight locking clips. I use it to store all kinds of things from nails, to hangers, to zip-ties. Nothing ever gets mixed accidentally with another compartment, and it stores a lot of stuff! It’s slim, light, and thus easy to store! If you’ve got a bunch of screws, nails, thumbtacks, marbles, jelly beans, whatever… get this and clean up your mess!

    The right storage option
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’m in the process of discarding all of those cute plastice drawer storage sets–the kind that end up being “black holes” where stuff gets stashed and never seen again. With the organizer, the misc. screws (for example) can be roughly sorted (large, med, small) and more easily retrieved. More importantly, however, is the reliable portability with a handle, & locking lid which goes to a repair much more conveniently than rooting through a handful that I would otherwise have dumped from my former plastic drawer storage.

    Portable small item storage bin
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a great item – lots of individual bins for nails, screws, and other items for the handyman. Tough as nails – I beat mine around and it stands up to the abuse. Stays shut with a great latching system – and the lid closes flush on the top of the individual storage bins so things don’t get mixed up. Mine is now many years old – bought the new one for my son-in-law when I couldn’t find a 2 inch screw at his new home. The compartments will hold items as big as a 4 inch screw or 16 penny nail and as small as a glazing point!

    Great case!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve bought 8 or 10 of these cases over the last year. I use them to sort and store a bunch of nuts/bolts/etc and they work great. I’m going to have to build some sort of storage cart for them because I’ve become hooked and I plan to buy some more.

  23. G. Robinson says:

Excellent for what it is intended for
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is basically a box of small boxes. Five are 4.5×3 1/8, 8 are 3 1/8×2 1/8 and 12 are 2 1/8×1 1/2 approximately. So this is really for accessories and parts. It works best with things that you can identify on sight: electronic parts, bits for drivers like the Dermal or Wecheer, or a bit less usefully for machine screws etc. I have had no problem with even #2 screws migrating between compartments but, with screws it can be a bit difficult to identify them by sight.

This brings up the one relatively minor down side to this case which is; there is no easy way to label the bins as to contents. Yes you can label the lid but that cuts visibility of the contents. The Brother P-Touch PT-18R Rechargeable Labeling System does well with 1/4″ black on white or 1/2 black on clear.

At the current price it is a good buy but at list it would be expensive.

    Storage for small items
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This product is fantastic for storing small items. No more small jars, no more drawer-type storage units, no more spills of screws, nails, etc. I use this in my RV–it is the answer to storing all of those small hardware items that one must have but doesn’t know where to store. The storage device doesn’t take up much room, it is easy to see the contents, and the individual compartments are removable so you don’t have to take the entire organizer to the job.

This is a great product. It is very portable and the parts stay in the bins. The bins can be re-arranged. I bought 2 and liked them so much that I bought 2 more. I have been using them for small electronics parts, and they would also be great for hardware or whatever. Its very easy to see what you have and get at it.

    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I bought a couple of these for my work van. So far they have durable both in the vehicle and out on the job. The latches appear to be heavy duty enough to go the distance and the individual bin compartments allow for a variety of parts to be stored without any mix up. So far they work well for me.

  29. bektek says:

I have a lot of these
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have a lot of these organizers for work, holding everything from heavy hardware to light plastic fittings, and several more for my kids’ toys–legos, knex, and magnet sticks and balls. Stanley got a lot right with this one. I read some of the other reviews, so a couple of comments…The only time hardware and parts fall out of the top of the bins and down along the lid when you’re carrying them is when you are REALLY loading the bins up with some heavy shim washers or stainless steel BBs, etc., so the weight of the hardware pushes against the lid when it is closed and in the carrying position, but it’s REALLY gotta be heavy for this to happen. The other time it can happen is when a screw or something is sticking up above a bin, not letting the lid seat properly when you snap it shut. Molded on the inside of the lid are small channels in the shape of crosses that seat across the lips of multiple bins, allowing the lid to close down flush against the tops of the bins, and holding them in place when moving about. Like many other reviewers, I love the mix n’ match aspect of the small yellow bins that fit these organizers, especially when you have a lot of them–you can move them from box to box, orient different sizes in different arrays, etc. If I had a gripe, it’s that the organizers don’t sit too stable when you set them down in the upright or “suitcase” position, which is handy when you are moving them about a lot. They kind of want to fall over to one side fairly easily, especially as they become heavier toward the handle with loading. Stanley could’ve molded some very inconspicuous “feet” in the bottom to solve this, but it’s a minor thing, given their sturdy performance as organizers. Or just forget about standing them up altogether, my guys throw these around like luggage handlers at JFK and they stay shut, never popped open yet, and haven’t cracked or chipped, even in cold weather in the van. Another minor gripe is that the same plastic nubs molded into the bottom that allow them to “nest” well and stay put as a vertical stack also make them a hassle to try to slide out, when you store them side by side by side, they grab on to each other–but once again, it’s more my problem, not a problem with the unit. A little habit you might want to adopt is that you either leave the lid open, or you close AND snap it…if you close it, but don’t snap it, invariably there will come the time when you pick up the organizer to happily put it away, but are startled by hundreds of screws, nuts and bolts, carefully sorted by size, material, lustre, sentimental value, cost, weight, inherent possibility, karma, scarcity, silliness…however you organize…as they hit the deck with an impressive metallic splash…2 minutes of sheer delight for everyone else in the room (“Hey, just put those anywhere!”) and two hours of picking up and reorganizing for you, and you’ll never get the lustres the same way you had them before. So open it or snap it shut, no in between. As far as removing the sticker, it’s a zen thing–take a deep breathe, carefully peel up a corner, and S-L-O-W-L-Y start to peel it back across the diagonal. Did I mention to do this S-L-O-W-L-Y? Never had a problem with any of my hinges, and as far as the price goes, well, what’s a good tool or product worth? You want an organizer that’s far and away better than similar models but only want to pay 10 bucks? Well, me too. But I’ll happily pay what they’re asking because it works and I don’t have to put up with poor-performing crap every day when I’m working. Home Depot and/or Lowe’s has the large bin models, and sometimes Target has the small bin models, if you need one today. Get going.
