    Not what I expected
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I expected sturdy, canvas covered shelves and what I got were slippery, saggy plastic shelves and sent it back.

    Great for storing jeans!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have stored 23 pairs of jeans with this product and I can say this is the best product I have ever purchased. The velcro is extremely durable and although there is some tension at the top (jeans are heavy), the individual sections have kept their shape/structure. I will be buying more for sweaters and purses!

IT MAY NOT BE PERFECT – BUT CLOSE TO IT. I DO LIKE THIS ORGANIZER FOR SWEATERS, JEANS, ETC. I LIKE IT ENOUGH THAT I AM GOING TO ORDER TWO MORE. RECOMMEND IT!

    Not canvas!
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I bought this organizer because of so many raving reviews about it, but was disappointed with the item I received. It is PVC shelves not canvas! It’s only good for storing t-shirt and light clothes.

    good value

The velcro attachment to the closet bar is very strong. The shelf dividers do tend to sag into each other a little if you fill each shelf. That makes pulling things out a little difficult. But it’s a great organizer, decently sturdy, and a good product for the money. This is definitely what I expected it to be.

    Works perfectly in my closet
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
i bought two of these to help control all the t-shirts and socks that were everywhere in our closet. They work perfectly! Out of the package, just hang and load ‘em up. Much cheaper than the plastic drawer carts that I had been looking at. Now I can easily find socks, tank tops, and jammies without having to hang them all up.

    A great buy!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this item in the original form- canvas instead of plastic dividers. If you can find the canvas one, I HIGHLY recommend it! I bought one for my boyfriend’s shoes, which are very heavy and bulky. The velcro stood up to the weight of all his shoes, and has been the perfect space saver. I bought one for myself and use it for holding my purses and sweaters. I have not experienced any bending or morphing of it’s original shape. I absolutely love it!!!

    So so for storage

The shelves are somewhat flimsey, and can only support one or two sweaters. For the amount of space the unit takes up in the closet, you might as well just put sweaters on a shelf. The unit does what it promises though, and makes the closet look neat and organized.

Product has been downgraded – picture misleading
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This review is to let potential buyers know that this product has changed from its original design, and yet at the time of this review neither the picture, nor the Product Features, nor the Amazon.com review have been updated to reflect the change.

I bought one of these in Dec. 2004 and it is exactly as pictured with canvas shelves. When you feel the shelves, you can tell that they have hardboard sandwiched between them making a durable surface that does not sag. I just purchased a second one and opened it today (May 2008) and while the top is still canvas-covered hardboard, the shelves are now plastic.

I came back here to see if I’d accidentally ordered a cheaper version, but the model number is the same. Whitney has indeed changed their design, and to be fair I see now that if you scroll all the way down to the Product Description under the Amazon.com review, it’s been updated to “6 Shelf, Sweater Organizer With Plastic Shelves…”. But keeping the original picture and Product Features, which only show and mention canvas, is highly misleading.

I tested out the plastic shelves and they do not compare to the original that I own which is still going strong (no sagging). Plus of course, it doesn’t match. I will be returning this. Hope this helps others make a more informed buying decision.

for dorm life it works great because you can really pack a lot of stuff into it.

  13. Colin Dixon says:

    Good, but not perfect
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The shelves are nice enough and very useful if you need some extra space and have a closet to hang them in, but there are a few simple problems. First, they are small, 12″x12″ is just not much space, it works well enough, but don’t expect them to store nearly as much as a typical dresser. Second, the ‘floors’ of the shelves are made of flexible thin plastic. This makes them unsuitable for things that have significant heft, say 3-4 pairs of jeans.

I wish they had used some kind of particleboard for each shelf (like they did with the top of the top shelf, and then made the shelves a little bit wider.

    The closet looks great!!!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased these for my twin daughter’s clothing and WOW!!! These organizers are sturdy and spacious. They hold more clothing than any of their dressers. With the additional purchase of the drawers all of their clothes are put away neatly and organized. The closet looks great!!!

    I highly recommend these!!!

    Perfect organizer
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This closet organizer works perfectly. The velcro holds very tightly, it is very sturdy, and is overall a great buy. I strongly recommend it to those who don’t have a lot of shelving space in their closets, especially when you need room for seasonal items like big bulky sweaters, etc.

  16. L. Ford says:

    Not impressed
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
If you have the kind of closet where the hangers only fit one way, the only way you can use this is to put it on a hanger and use it that way. It’s okay for sweaters, but not strong enough for shoes. Wouldn’t buy again.

  17. mmc says:

    good sweater rack
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
this is so functional! it’s ugly, for sure, (and since i have one of the closets that is shallow and wide, it has to hang in a prominent place in the closet in order for me to have access to the items) but it really is space-economical and i have no problems with its functionality.

For the money, a very sturdy bag that is secured by a velcro wrap around your closet poles, that actually holds! I have one upstairs for sweaters, and one downstairs to organize our gloves, hats, compact umbrellas etc.

    Sweater Shelf
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I love this product in terms of its space saving value. However, I was a bit disappointed that the overall construction of the product wasn’t as sturdy as I had expected. When I placed the sweaters in the various compartments, the whole frame sagged under the weight and the top of the first shelf arched out of shape. I ended up using the product for lighter items like T-shirts and scarves.

    Excellent Organizer
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This organizer is the perfect addition to my closet. I use it to hold sweaters, T-shirts, and pants. I used to store these items on the shelf of my closet; so this organizer has freed up that space for other items.

The shelves are made of thin, firm plastic; so they hardly sag under the weight of the clothes. Some hanging organizers have canvas shelves, which don’t support the clothes nearly as well.

This organizer holds a lot of items in very little space and for a very reasonable price — a very worthwile purchase!

Our apartment doesn’t have a lot of storage and this organizer help me make full use of the closet space. I bought two and am happy with them. I use them mainly for light stuff such as T-shirts. I only put heavy stuff (e.g. Jeans) at the bottom shelf. After all they are made of canvas and they work as they are supposed to.

Very functional and a good value
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I had been putting my sweaters on hangers up until I got these shelving units and I always had creases and other problems. These shelves work great and fit very well in my closet. I’m a big guy and I can fit 2-3 sweaters in each shelf space, while my wife is small and can fit 4-5. The shelves were easy to set up and get attached to the closet rod. One of the nicest features is that because they’re canvas, in the summer I can simply put my sweaters in storage and collapse these shelves.

  23. Marianela Garcia says:

Great for storing t-shirts and sweaters
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I was a little bit concern when I first saw that the organizer will hold to the rod with velcro, but it is pretty strong. I bought it a year ago and it is still in place. I don’t store heavy items like jeans but it is perfect for my t-shirts, sweaters and more. I bought two and then realized I needed two more. I got diferent ones at a department store and regreted it the minute I took them out of the package. I will definitly buy it again.

  24. E. Town says:

    Cheaply Made
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Instead of hangers to hold this up they use velcro. This puts strain at the top and eventually cracks the thin peice of wood holding it straight. Great for holding air, not great for holding items.

  25. Emmly says:

    Alright….
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I purchased these because of all the wonderful reviews it received on Amazon. While they are alright, I didn’t find them all that extraordinary. I wish the “shelves” were sturdier and I wish that the velcro was wider so that it wraps tightly around the rods in my closet. Since they’re not tight around the rod, they tend to swing back and forth and that bothers me. I guess I’ll have to buy some velcro and adjust it myself. All in all it is a good product, it’s handy and cheaper than others. I would not purchase them again though.

    Great Product!

I was tired of having holes in the shoulders of my sweaters, and I was short on drawer space for folded items. Now that is not a problem, All of my sweaters fit in this organizer, and it is AWESOME!

Whitney Design 01812 6-Shelf Canvas Sweater Organizer
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I originally bought these for my daughter to use in our infant grandson’s closet. She made such good use of hers that I bought some for our closets.Currently they are home to hats, tshirts, sewing materials, greeting cards, linens and craft supplies.

The velcro attachment stays attached, but the thin top support broke from weight on the one used for fabrics. It was easily reinforced, and still usable, but knocked the rating down a bit.

    Excellent

This organizer is great. I use this to store my sweaters and love it. It is very sturdy. The canvas is high quality. I compared it to a similiar product at Target and the Whitney product is definitely better.

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We live in an apt, and storage space is forever less. Also we cant afford a whole lot of fancy stuff!!This shelf though it says for sweaters,I use it to store diff. small cloth articles…like socks on one shelf, hand towels on another, undergarments in yet other.

I have found it extremely useful.
